Project scope management involves defining and controlling all work necessary to complete a project. There are five key processes: collecting requirements to define deliverables; defining the scope statement; creating a work breakdown structure to decompose work; verifying completed deliverables; and controlling any scope changes. An important part of scope management is developing a work breakdown structure using a top-down or bottom-up approach to subdivide work, as well as maintaining a scope baseline and preventing uncontrolled scope creep.
