Renumber Tools Add-in User Guide
This document goes through the features of the Renumber Tools Add-in, as well as the step-by-step
procedure for using it. The add-in was created to quickly change the tool numbers of a file based on the
order of operations. The first operation’s tool starts with a given starting number, and the tool numbers are
increased sequentially from there, skipping certain numbers if specified. The add-in also gives the option to
change the length comp register and station to match this change. Once the tool number has been
changed, any offset numbers within operations will also be changed to update the new tool number.

Renumber Tools Add-in License Requirements
In order to use the Renumber Tools Add-in, a valid “E” license must be selected and bit 90 must be
activated. To determine if a license is valid and the required bit is present, go to Start > Programs > DP
Technology > Security, highlight the “E” license in the list of licenses, and then click the Features tab. If the
licensing requirements are not met, please contact support@dptechnology.com for more information and
assistance.

Renumber Tools Add-in Document Requirements
Before using the Renumber Tools Add-in, the user must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Must be in SolidTurn or SolidMill mode (SolidWire mode is not supported)
2. Must have an ESPRIT document open
3. Must have at least 1 ESPRIT operation created that uses a tool
dptechnology.com 3
Accessing the Renumber Tools Add-in
Before being able to open the Renumber Tools Add-in, it must be loaded within the ESPRIT interface. To do
this, go to Tools > Add-in, select the Renumber Tools Add-in from the list of available add-ins, and check the
box next to “Loaded/Unloaded” (and “Load on Startup” if the add-in is to always be loaded):
Figure 2 - loading the Renumber Tools Add-in
Once the add-in has been loaded, it can be accessed within any ESPRIT file within the “Common Machining”
toolbar:

Starting number
This is the first number that the tool numbers will begin at. From there, the tool numbers will
increase by 1 in the order of operations, skipping any numbers found below.
Increment
This is the increment by which each tool number will increase. For instance, if this value is 2 and the
Starting Number is 1, the tool numbers will be set to 1, 3, 5, 7…
Add to Custom Setting?
Selecting a custom setting from this dropdown list will set the Custom Setting of the operation to
the tool number of that particular tool
dptechnology.com 5
Set offset numbers = tool number
This setting will adjust the Length Comp Register values in the tool page, and the offset numbers
within any operations to match the new tool number.
Restart numbering for each turret
This setting only applies when using a machine setup with multiple turrets/heads. When this option
is checked, the numbering will restart from the starting number for each turret, instead of giving
every tool in the document a unique, sequential number.
Move tool to matching station number
This setting will move the tool to the corresponding station with the same number if it exists. It will
only check for the existing station number within the turret that the tool is already loaded into - it
will never move a tool from one turret to another.
Show reminder before creating NC code
Having this setting checked will open a message box when the user creates NC code but has not run
this add-in on the file. ESPRIT will still create NC code, but this will simply remind them.
Skip numbers
If this option is checked, the user can select various numbers to skip in the sequential numbering
system. By default, only 1-25 are shown in the “Numbers to skip” section. If more numbers are
needed, the “+25” button can be pressed to add 25 more numbers:
Reset
This will reset the “Numbers to skip” box back to default (no items checked, 25 boxes shown).
+25
Pressing this button will add 25 more choices under the “Numbers to skip” section
