‱ SAP is the leading Enterprise Information
and Management Package.
‱ There is n number of ERP softwares in
market today, of which SAP is used in
medium to large enterprise.

software to process all functionalities of
an organisation in order to obtain a
UNIFIED solution, ERP software.
‱ SAP is a leader when it comes to easy
integration among all the departments.

whole organizations different
departments.
For example_
SAP, Oracle, People soft, JD Edwards are
some of the top ERP software systems.

HISTORY OF SAP
 SAP the company was founded in Waldorf,
Germany in town of Heidelberg in 1972 by five ex-
IBM engineers.
 SAP has subsidiaries in over 50 countries around
the world.
 SAP stands for Systems, Applications, Products in
Data Processing.

for open client/server systems has
established a new standards for
providing business information
management solutions.
‱ The “ R ” was for “ Realtime Data
Processing ”.

and analysis of events that

‱ These modules may not all be implemented in a typical company but they are all
related and are listed below :

1.) Financial Controling (FICO) :
SAP Finance(FI): It is
considered to be the base
module.
SAP controlling(CO): Used for
Internal controlling and Internal
Reporting.
2.) Sales & Distribution(SD):
It controls the sales, master data,
plants, sales conditions etc.
3.) Human Resource(HR):
Handles all human resource
activities such as resource hiring,
salary, employee benefits etc.
4.) Projects System(PS):
It comprise budgeting, planning,
Forecasting, work breakdown
structure for projects.

Database.
Application Server : Contain software
for running the Application Logic.
Presentation Server : Consists of
Graphical User Interface(GUI), which
as Interface between user and other
two layers.
SAP R/3 Architecture
ABAP- LANGUAGE OF SAP
‱ ABAP - Advanced Business Application Programming which can be
classified as 4th Generation Programming Language.
‱ High level programming language created by the German Software
Company, SAP.
‱ It has many of the features of other modern programming
languages such as the familiar C, Visual Basic, and Power Builder.
‱ Your program name convention begins with a letter Y*** or Z***.
‱ ABAP is not case sensitive.
‱ Every statement begins with a keyword and ends with a period.
( WRITE is a Keyword to print on screen).
WRITE ‘Hello world!’.
