Scope of biotechnology in future
 Biotechnology is a field of applied biology that
involves the use of living organisms and
bioprocesses in engineering, technology,
medicine and other fields requiring bio
products. Modern use similar term includes
genetic engineering as well as cell- and tissue
culture technologies.
 MICROBIOLOGY

BIO ROBOTICS
 Bio robotics is a term that loosely covers the
fields of cybernetics, bionics and even genetic
engineering as a collective study.
 The term is also used in a reverse definition:
making biological organisms as manipulation
and functional as robots, or making biological
organisms as components of robots.
 The creation of life from non-living matter for
example, would be bio robotics. The field is in
its infancy and is sometimes known as
synthetic biology or bio nanotechnology
 A biological brain, grown from cultured
neurons which were originally separated, has
been developed as the neurological entity
subsequently embodied within a robot body
by Kevin Warwick and his team at University
of California. The brain receives input from
sensors on the robot body and the resultant
output from the brain provides the robot's
only motor signals. The biological brain is the
only brain of the robot.
 The term bio robot was applied to the
liquidators in change of cleaning the most
contaminated areas.
 Now synthetic organisms of living tissue &
cells yet created artificially. Instead of
microchips we are using ganglions/artificial
neurons for the brain of robots. Now we can
create such robots which perform a particular
task with their own intelligence .
 Bioroid is the term used for biological robots.
 Bio robotics can be referred for as theoretical
discipline of comprehensive genetic
engineering in which organisms are created
and design by artificial means.
 The creation of the life from non living matter
is a bio robotics.
 The field is in its infancy & is sometime known
as synthetic biology or bio nanotechnology.
 Bio robots are those robots which are created
with the involvement of living tissue, organ etc.
Bio robots can over come the situation of
Handling problems, situation according to
their skills & understanding which is not
possible in the case of artificial robots.

IN INDIA
•As we know that robotics is one of the fast emerging
science but bio robotics is more advanced field then robotics
. In India there are many institute which give the degree of
robotics but they have not involved bio robotics up to know.
but we can hope that this advance field come soon to our
nation so that we get chance to understand this marvelous
field. the institute providing courses in bio robotics are as
follows.
•Indian Institute of technology Kanpur
•National Institute of Technology, Hyderabad
•Jadavpur University, Kolkata
•Birla Institute of Technology (Bits), Pilani
IN ABROAD
•The Institute which offers degree in Bio -Robotics are as
follows:-
Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Singapore
Kut Institute of Technology
 Stanford bio robotics labs
•The Courses the provide are:-
artificial intelligence
Computer Added manufacturing
Computer Geometry
Robot Motion planning
Digital Electronic & processor
Robot Manipulators

 Because Bio robots can think due to presence of
their own brain which is not possible in the
case of general robots.
 Bio robots can tackle the situation better than
humans because their brain is more faster than
us.
 Now research is going on to make such bio
robots which can able to produce their own
progeny .
 One of the biggest advantages of automating
procedures is the accuracy of results. The
chances of a robot going wrong are very
minimal and as a process, the whole thing may
fail or get executed to perfection .
 Bio robotics is being used across several
industries like automobiles, medicine,
household appliances and several more
 Bio robots are being used actively in medical and
welfare industry because of the shortage of manpower
in this industry.
 Today in industry bio robots are used while
performing surgeries under the supervision of
a qualified surgeon. The advantages of bio
robotics are that there is a lot of accuracy in
handling of events and the things go as per
plan without delays.
 Amount of perfection is almost impossible to
achieve with human practice .
 Usually the surgery performed by robotic
instruments takes lesser time than a surgery
performed using hand instruments.
 Nano medibots may repair vital tissue damaged by
injury or disease, or destroy cancerous tissue that has
gone away, without invasive surgery.
 In addition to delivering pharmaceuticals, nanotech
medical robots ("nanomedibots") may be able to:
monitor body function; repair damaged tissue at the
molecular level; deconstruct pathologic or abnormal
material or cells such as cancer or plaque; and enhance
human health and functioning.
 Robots can perform surgery without a human
surgeon
 Advantages of robotic surgery are precision,
miniaturization, smaller incisions, decreased
blood loss, less pain, and quicker healing time
 The main advantage of this technique is that the
incisions are very small and, consequently,
patient recovery is quick.
 There are researches going on in these topics to
build a robot which can manage a field, water
plants and manage its own requirements as
well.
 The farm which can be controlled by robots
basically contain robots with water pumps in
their hands, then the pots are connected
through communication networks to the robots
and computers and sensors.
 The communication networks are one
important part of the robotic farming.
 The robots job is not completed once the plant
starts growing but the robots needs to check
for fruits and pluck the ripened ones.
 The main advantage of such a farming system
is that the farming is completely need based.
Only when the plants need something the
robot is going to provide them. So there is not
waste of water or nutrients in this case and
also no need to worry about the excess water
content in the plants.
Scope of biotechnology in future
 Well bio robotics is a field which helps humans
in many ways but it has some draw backs also.
They are as follows
1. If their is any problem in the functioning of
robots than they may cause disasters .
2. It create laziness among people .
3. If they have their thinking then they may also
dominate the world and defeat humans .
