- 1. THE LAST CHANCE By Jasmine Downer Ringwood School AS Media
- 2. THE LAST CHANCE (2014) Scene: Exterior and Interior night A house in a friendly neighbourhood, blank screen the audience can only hear a car engine stop, man speaking, car door open, footsteps and house keys rustling. The husband (David) has arrived home at 10:30PM and cleans himself up after a hard day at the office. The wife is inside chopping and preparing dinner waiting for him to arrive. The audience can only hear what’s going on until he puts the key in the door. He walks in the house drops his briefcase and goes into the kitchen moaning about his hard day; the wife (Fearne) has her back to David, she is aggressively preparing dinner. She turns around too him when she says “it’s 10:30PM….” David keeps his distance as, he doesn’t want to upset Fearne at first but, then he walks towards her trying to console her. However,she flies off the handle as she says “I want you out” she turns back round and continues to prepare dinner. David tries to help and gives her a back massage to calm her down but, Fearne turns round quickly and pushes him away whilst holding the knife violently. David holds his hands up to show that she has won but, it’s too late. The screen goes black you can hear sirens. Then a close up of knife dropping to floor, screen goes black again and then a long shot of back door open with no one there. DAVID (Whilst in car, blank screen) Better clean myself up DAVID Honey I’m home… He walks into house and puts his bag down and walks into the kitchen. FEARNE Where have you been? And no excuses this time (pause) DAVID Just at work honey, come on don’t be mad FEARNE It’s 10:30…. You’ve been with her again haven’t you? You know I don’t trust her.
- 3. DAVID She’s 6 years older than me, nothing happened last time and nothing has happened this time either! FEARNE I don’t believe and I definitely don’t trust you David walks towards Fearne and try’s to calm her down, she pushes him away I want you out! DAVID You’re just tired let’s eat and go to sleep and settle this in the morning. FEARNE Go to sleep with you after you have been with THAT! Leave now just get out, you know it was a close call last time you upset me DAVID Honey, you’re just being irrational FEARNE Irrational? Close-up of the knife held in the centre of the camera with David’s face out of focus. Screen goes black, sirens are heard Watching knife drop form her hand with David on floor in slow motion, screen goes black Shot of back door open
