What is Social Networking? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0 The term "Web 2.0" (2004–present) is commonly associated with web  applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design,[1] and collaboration on the World Wide Web .  Examples of Web 2.0 include web-based communities, hosted services, web applications, social-networking sites, video-sharing sites, wikis, blogs, mashups, and folksonomies.  A  Web 2.0 site allows its users to interact with other users or to change website content , in contrast to non-interactive websites where users are limited to the passive viewing of information that is provided to them. Twitter  has  75 million accounts  - 15 million are active. LinkedIn  has over  50 million  users worldwide. There are more than  700,000 local businesses  with an active page on  FaceBook . Interesting Social Media Statistics   Of charities surveyed by Network for Good: 74% have a presence on FaceBook with an average community size of 5,391. 80% are committing at least 1/4 of an employee's time to social networking. Leveraging Social Networking for Nonprofits March 2010
Why Do People Use It? To stay connected to friends, family, colleagues, communities. To collaborate, learn from one another and work together. To stay informed. For marketing and public relations.
