- 2. The problem we identified was that people are using much more paper than necessary. This is depleting our trees, indirectly leading to Global Warming, droughts, soil erosion etc. We imagined impacting people to save paper. The ideas that came up after serious brain storming were: * Making and putting up posters in school, neighbourhood, residential colonies *Conduction awareness assembly in school *Distributing bags made from used paper * Installing paper recycle bins in school *Start a CCA to teach children how to recycle paper *Use e-mail instead of paper circulars, letters We implemented most of our ideas, even though we had only one week to take action. We conducted a school assembly that included a rap song and skit about recycling and saving paper. We made posters on old newspapers and put them up in multiple places. We distributed paper bags made out of used paper and painted a message on the bags. We talked to our principal and new paper recycling bins were put around the school campus. The whole school, including about 1000 students and 70 teachers, is now more conscious about using paper. The awareness spread to the parents through the e-mail notification sent by the school to all students. The neighbourhood awareness also resulted in highlighting the problem and its solution to a large number of people. Our friends now think twice about wasting paper and our neighbours are paper conscious. We are happy to make a contribution to making this a more sustainable world. 23-29 Aug 2010
