Clauses-subject+predicate
• independent(main):
• Subject +verb
• Provide complete
meaning(stand alone)
• E.g)The sun shines brightly.
• It gives complete sentence
and stand alone
• Dependent(subordinate):
• Provide incomplete
meaning(not stand alone)
• E.g)while the sun shines
brightly.
• This sentence leaves
questions like “while the
sun shines brightly ” what
will happen???,which is
incomplete.
