Thenewspaper is in the genre of non-fiction or information that is factual. The type of text used in the top third of the newspaper is serif. This is because there are serifs at the end of letters and also the strokes changesizes, becoming thick and thin. The newspaper also uses images to give a further explanation of whatthe newspaper is talking about. For example, the headline is saying that everyone “Loved Tyler” and the newspaper would use the picture of Tyler as the person they are referring to. However, the layout of the article itself is in column form and the text in the article is also serif, as the letters have serifs at the end of
- 2. them also and the strokes also go fromthick to thin changing constantly. But if we comparethis to news bulletin, there is more motion graphics and less text used in the layout of the bulletin. For example, the way in the layout for sky news is designed is that, the text is placed in the bottom third of the motion graphic and has an animation of words that are informing the audience moving across the screen. The type of text used is san serif because, there aren’t any serif at the ends of words and the strokes havean even width. Whereas, with a news website, the text used is also serif and the strokes also havean even width. The layout of a news websiteis very limited to the amount of images that are used. This is because, the website wantto usethe witting to inform the audience, morethan the illustration. The website would also have a navigation systemor hyperlinks that would navigate you to another page on the website. Websites would contain videos or live feeds of news being reported live or havenews that has been shown on Television. I focus mainly on music a music magazine, a music streaming websiteand a music video. First of all, the music magazine has a punk styleto it, as the text on the left hand side looks as if it has been pasted or cut out and placed on the frontof the magazine. The text type in the magazine is San serif as the letters do not have any serifs at the end of them and the also, the thickness of the strokes areeven and this styleof text may be known as Futura Book. Also, with a magazinethe headline would
- 3. tend to always be in the top third of page and have things such as sub headings on the bottom third or middle third of the page. For example, with music magazine is has the title of the magazine in the top third and any other text is either allocated to middle or bottom third of the page. The magazinewould also havepictures allocated to articles that the person in the image is about. For example, if they have an article on ASAP Rocky, they would always have an image to help the audience identify who they are talking about. There would also be more writing than image in magazine, as the purposeof it would be to informor educate. Whereas, with the music streaming websites images are more and mostly to help the audience also identify specific artists or music genres. For example, the website has an image of David Guetta and once you click on his name, it will either navigate you to all of his music or it will play you a popular song of his. Also, music streaming website will havea point of focus. The point of focus will be used to promotea recent or popular artist or artists that is gaining recognition. This will be done by having a image that is bigger in sizethan any of the other images on the websites page. However, music videos use less images and less text and focus mainly on the animation effects or the way in the artist’s name and song appear in the video. For example, in the music the text, which shows theartist’s name, it is San serif, because there aren’t any serif at the end of letters and the thick of strokes arethe same and also the words changein with the beat of the music. Also, music video are able to add visualeffects, which could be intriguing to audience and make them wantto continue watching. The graphicalstyles of factual products differ fromthat of music products because, factual products are more formaland have more of an educational and informative purpose. Whereas, with music products they are used mostly for entertainment purposes but, haveaspects of educating and informing with the product.
