- 1. Unit 57: Photography and Photographic Practise Project Proposal (P2, P3, M2, M3, D2, D3) Candidate name: Theme: Architectural Exploration of Salford Quays Lydia Cooke Predicted final outcome I am going to produce landscape pictures of Salford Quays showing the design and architecture as well as highlighting the Manchester area as well as possible. Reasons for selection of theme (including inspiration from the work of others) I want to use a variety of photographs of different buildings and sights at the Quays such as day time, and night time and also different well known buildings in that area. I want to try and show the audience seeing my photographs that Salford isn’t what people might expect, and that it has its beauty and scenic views just as well as anywhere else in Manchester. As this part of Salford is now very well-known and important I need to make sure these photographs look the best they can, to the highest quality. I will be using a camera named Nikon d3100. I will change different elements on the camera to achieve the best results. Such as the shutter speed, F stop, depth of field. All depending on the time of day. Techniques that will be used and how they will help convey the visual message

In the day time I will use a low aperture and high shutter speed to create emphasis on what is in the frame, Making sure the colours and dominant image within the frame is the best quality it can be. If it is dark when I take my photographs I will use a high aperture and low shutter speed but with a higher ISO to define the image. With these techniques used, it will help me show the architecture and design of the quays to the best ability.
