Plus workshops and seminars (3 weeks) •Instruction is delivered online when the international teachers return to their own countries, schools and classrooms. The online component of the PSC in TEFL is delivered over approximately 9 weeks •Successful completion ensures participants of a Professional Specialization Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and alumni status at the University of Victoria. English Language Requirements: Students who are not a native English speaker must meet the following language proficiency requirements (and complete an entrance interview): TOEFL(iBT) score: 94 TOEIC score: 850 IELTS score 7.0 This Advanced 120-hour TEFL course is intended for people with little or no teaching experience. Students are expected to be able to speak English fluently to enroll in this course. By the end of the course students will acquire all the teaching knowledge, skills, strategies, and cultural awareness to be able to teach in a foreign country, and be familiar with the following: • methodology for teaching the four skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking) • second language acquisition theory • classroom organization, teaching, and assessment techniques • understanding cultural diversity • teaching strategies to maximize learning in the classroom • empowering learners to manage their own learning process.
