The e-Framework in 15 Minutes
- 1. The e-Framework in 15 minutes “ Projects are expected to engage with, and contribute to, the e-Framework” - JISC
- 2. Don’t Panic!! Contributing to the e-Framework should not be a huge amount of extra effort. Help and support is available (at no extra cost) Do what is appropriate for your project Don’t leave it until the last minute!
- 3. What’s in the e-Framework? Service Oriented Knowledge Base: It’s documentation to help others Describes services (based on open standards) and how to use them Describes use of multiple services together Describes best practices in use of services International Community: UK, Australia, The Netherlands, New Zealand
- 4. Where does my project fit? Technical Development Projects: Document (Web or ‘other’) Service Interfaces Document service oriented designs Other Projects: Scenarios, use cases, process models, practice models – augmenting existing work Experiences of using services Good practice guidelines
- 5. How to make contributions Basically, get in touch with the editors. There is a ‘community wiki’ where work can be shared early with the international partners. When you are happy with the contribution, email the editors and we’ll go through the rest of the process with you. Templates are used for technical contributions There is a moderation stage for some technical contributions – checking template use, overlap with existing components etc.
- 6. Some advice Re-use your documentation Technical templates == project technical documentation Use summaries Link back to project websites Don’t wait until the end Easier to record changes; no millstone effect Ask for help
