What are the implications of autonomous, always-on, connected, and often constrained devices on the global internet the perspective of the Internet Invariants. Perhaps less so on the security specifics of recent attacks. 5

- 9. What is "IoT" • Things connected to software using networks • This inverts many of the relationships we are used to • Things are the servers, the data authority, where data are produced and consumed • Things are hyperlocal and personal
- 10. Confidence • Confidence comes from demonstrated integrity • Integrity requires clear data ownership and policy control • My thing should no stop working when a website is shut down or a TOU changes

Inversion of Scale • We have optimized the deployment of the internet around massive websites • Connected things will not derive much benefit from massive websites • Connected things will drive scale at the edge • Software executing at the edge and in the user context will add much more value • Massive websites are vulnerable to data breaches and DDOS attacks (See Confidence)
