 Creating Goals and Prioritization
 Avoiding Procrastination
 Managing Interruptions
 Scheduling of Activities, Tasks and Events
 Dealing with Stress
Time Management
 Setting goals -> then prioritize goals -> then work to
schedule the steps to reach those goals
 Requires time and effort initially, but few realize that
this effort will later help prevent anxiety, reduce total
time on task, and prevents frustration in the future
 If you are serious about time management, we
suggest you start with Personal Goal Setting and The
Golden Rules of Goal Setting. We also recommend
Treasure Mapping.

Goal Setting
Prioritization
 Be efficient
 Work on the tasks of
highest importance and
value first
 How?
 Use Activity Logs
 Prioritize “To-Do” Lists
 Urgent/Important Matrix
 Complete a list of
activities to fill a weekly
planner and stick to it
*www.MindTools.com
 Important activities have an outcome that leads to the
achievement of your goals, whether these are professional
or personal.
 Urgent activities demand immediate attention, and are
often associated with the achievement of someone else's
goals.
 The Urgent/Important Matrix helps you look at your task
list, and quickly identify the activities you should focus on.
By prioritizing using the Matrix, you can deal with truly
urgent issues, at the same time that you keep on working
towards important goals.
Urgent/Important Matrix
There are two types:
1. When we avoid routine tasks
2. When we are discontent with life in general
Procrastination
I can’t seem to stop wasting time!
 Is there “a cure” for
procrastination?
 Habits are hard to break,
but you can change with
hard work!
Start slowly to reform your study habits:
 Establish a REGULAR study time
 Perform simple tasks
 Try a different time of day
Studying & Procrastination
 These are events or items that crop up expectantly
 Utilize the Urgent/Important Matrix to prioritize what and who to
respond to immediately or later
 Learn to say No when appropriate
 Manage a log of interruptions to help you determine and analyze
how you can manage them more effectively
 Take a few minutes to assess the importance and urgency of the
situation before responding
 There will always be uncontrollable interruptions that we must
accept as a part of our lives – encourage and be assertive to
resolve the interruption

your planner, according to syllabi and your class
test schedules
