The document proposes timing offset (TO) and carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation techniques for orthogonal time frequency space modulation (OTFS) that do not require additional training overhead. The proposed TO estimator exploits the periodic properties of the pilot signal used for channel estimation to search for its sequence in the delay-time domain. It estimates the TO in two stages: first in the delay dimension by finding the peak of a correlation function, and then in the time dimension by taking advantage of multipath diversity. The proposed CFO estimator finds the mean of the angles of a two-dimensional correlation function at the estimated timing instant. Simulation results show the techniques achieve accurate synchronization with minimal overhead and lead to the same performance as a fully synchronous system
