This paper evaluates the performance of the fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) for estimating symbol timing offset (STO) and carrier frequency offset (CFO) in OFDM systems, comparing it to conventional Fourier transform (FFT) techniques. Simulations demonstrate that FRFT outperforms FFT in terms of mean square error (MSE) for both CFO and STO estimation when using cazac sequences as pilots. The findings suggest that FRFT is a promising alternative for synchronization in OFDM systems with similar computational complexity to FFT.
