The paper proposes a supplementary control (SC) based on adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to improve the transient response of direct current in high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, specifically addressing gaps in transient response studies. The SC demonstrated improved performance over proportional integral controller (PIC) with reduced maximum overshoot and steady-state errors during simulation tests. Results indicated significant enhancements in transient response with the SC at up-ramp rates of 20 pu/s and 28 pu/s, showing maximum overshoot reductions under various scenarios.
