This document discusses factors that influence the settling velocity of drill cuttings in drilling fluids, specifically the effect of rheological parameters derived from power law models. It aims to investigate using different shear rate data pairs from rheological measurements to determine these parameters and their impact on predicted settling velocity. The results showed that data from lower shear rates (R200/R100) provided better predictions of observed settling velocity than commonly used higher shear rate data (R600/R300). Using effective viscosity models and lower shear rate data can improve accuracy of settling velocity predictions, which is important for optimizing hole cleaning during drilling.
