This paper presents a model-based control method for turbofan engines using a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) to optimize fuel flow and control high-pressure spool speed. The developed mathematical model, built in MATLAB Simulink, demonstrates that LQR controllers outperform traditional PID controllers in terms of settling time, rise time, and maximum overshoot. The study emphasizes the importance of accurate modelling and simulation for enhancing engine performance across various applications.
