The January 2015 Ubuntu Server and Cloud Survey revealed significant trends in cloud computing, highlighting increased adoption of hybrid and private cloud models. Key findings indicate that security, privacy, cost, and complexity remain major hurdles, while the Internet of Things (IoT) is expected to drive future cloud growth. The survey also noted the rising importance of OpenStack as a cloud management platform and a shift towards using cloud for mission-critical applications.

Among many interesting findings, several themes emerged: o Cloud adoption remains heavily weighted to private models, but hybrid deployments are steadily on the rise o OpenStack is climbing to the top as a cloud management platform o The cloud is now being used for more mission critical functions o Data growth and the software defined data center are two primary drivers of cloud adoption
