Targeted 1000 school children across primary and secondary schools in West Yorkshire over 6 month period
Funded with a £5K grant from HEFCE
School children performed physiological experiments whilst learning about health and disease
Road show built on areas embedded in the school curriculumStudents undertaking experimentsduringthe health and disease road show
ULBERGFACULTY OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCESHealth and Disease Road ShowSkills developed:		-measuring physiological parameters		-calculating data from parameters measured		-analysing data and comparing with normal values		-understanding the importance of a health lifestyleFeedback: extremely positive, including wanting to run the event again and captivating and inspiring the students about science. Majority of teachers built this into their next teaching session
Outputs: Article in the Bulletin of the HEA Centre for Bioscience and a Physiological Society presentation entitled ‘Engaging future physiologists’ULBERGFACULTY OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCESCelebrating the work of William AstburyEvening of talks and demonstrations centred around Astbury’s influence on research in medical sciences
