Unit 13 LO4 and LO5
Environment of presentation
In my presentation I have used an interactive whiteboard in order for everyone who
was viewing my PowerPoint to see each of the slides. I used an slide changer in order
for me when presenting my pitch to be able to change slides easily and effectively
without having to stand by the computer changing the slides manually each time. I
used an Mac in order to present my pitch because it allowed me to be able to view my
Prezi presentation on the interactive white board without any delays to my pitch. I
used a camera in order to be able to film my pitch because it was of a high quality and
allowed me to be able to film in HD. I used a camera stand in order for me to be able
to place the camera at an angle where the camera is faced towards me and the
whiteboard.
Evidence of pitch
The following screenshots from my pitch are a source of evidence. It shows that my pitch
was recorded on camera and that my pitch represented the magazines I created well.
Also by recording the pitch it allowed me to be able to watch over the pitch and
determine my strengths and my weaknesses so therefore if I was to do the pitch again in
the future I would know what I need to improve upon and this could make my pitches
more successful.
Based on the feedback which I received from the people watching my pitch was that I
was very well presented and spoke clearly with a good amount of eye contact and
appeared to be very confident. But the negatives in which I received about my pitch was
that I need to use more body language in my pitch and use better vocabulary during my
pitch.
Materials used
I have created a Powerpoint for my presentation in order to show exactly what my
magazine is about and the costs of producing my magazine. I used the internet in
order to look up prices for the office space for my magazine so therefore I would
know exactly where I would need to locate to and therefore inform staff so
therefore I would know if they would be able to commute there.
Unit 13 LO4 and LO5
Witness statement
WWW:
Above is a screenshot of what the client liked about my pitch. She said that my pitch
was excellent and she particularly liked my photo-shoot plan and my magazine flat
plans.
EBI:
Above is a screenshot of what the client thought I needed to improve upon in my
pitch. She said that I need to include a slide on spending power and I need to change
the name of my hand drawn drafts from ‘hand on drafts’ to ‘hand drawn drafts’.
Feedback of pitch
I have sent an email to everyone in my media class and my media teacher in order to gain
some feedback about my pitch. The feedback I receive will enable me to know exactly
what I can improve on my pitch in order to make it better next time.
Survey monkey feedback- Question 1
The first question of my questionnaire is ‘did I include enough information on each slide ?’.
The feedback shows that all of the people that answered the survey said that they did have
enough information.
Question 2
The second question of my questionnaire is ‘Were the images used relevant to the slides ?’.
The feedback shows that all of the people that answered the survey said that the images
were relevant.
Question 3
The third question of my questionnaire is ‘Did my introduction give a good overview of the
magazines ?’. The feedback shows that 80% of people said it did give a good overview and
20% of the people said it didn’t give a good overview.
Question 4
The fourth question of my questionnaire is ‘was my presentation engaging ?’. The
feedback shows that all of the people asked said that my presentation was engaging.
Question 5
The fifth question of my questionnaire is ‘Did I build a good rapport with
the audience ?’. The feedback shows that everyone that I asked felt that
in my presentation I built a good rapport with the audience.
Question 6
The sixth question of my questionnaire is ‘was each slide easy to understand?’.
The feedback shows that everyone that I asked thought that each slide was
easy to understand.
Question 7
The final question of my questionnaire is ‘ How could I improve my presentation if I
was to do it again ?’. The feedback shows that the people I asked thought that I
needed to improve my puff promotion and that I need to improve my Photoshop
work in order for it to stand out.
Evidence of feedback
These are the corrections in which I received for my pitch. After receiving these
corrections in my witness statement I went back onto my pitch and amended it with
these corrections.
Evidence of feedback
Pitch improvements
Puff promotion:
The first improvement in which I made was editing my puff
promotion on my magazine front cover so therefore it looks
more professional and more suited to my magazine.
DPS analysis:
The next improvement would be to include my DPS in my
pitch. So therefore the client can see exactly what the DPS
looks like and decide their opinion on it.
House Style/ Colour scheme:
Another improvement that needs to be made is to edit the
colour scheme slide in order for it to fit the design of the
Bass front cover.
Front cover improvements
Added a beats logo
to puff promotion in
order for it to look
more professional.
Added some cover
lines to the right
hand side of the
page.
Added a banner to
the top of the page
therefore makes
masthead stand out.
DPS improvements
Added a new picture into my
DPS in order for it to look
more professional.
Added a grey background
onto the image.
Added a title onto the DPS in
order to catch the audience
attention.

Calendar events
The date that may cause conflict with my magazine is the bank holiday on the 29th May which therefore may
mean that employees won’t have to work so therefore it could result in the day of my magazine getting
released being delayed.
The day in which my magazine will be distributed will be on the 23rd June so therefore I will need to ensure that
the design of my magazine and all of the advertising of the magazine is all completed to a very high standard
and that the printing of the magazine has the correct amount of copies and they are printed to a very high
quality to ensure that my magazine attracts the most amount of readers possible.
My magazine will be released in June, this is a good thing because it is the beginning of summer so therefore
including headlines about the new music being released for the summer and information about festivals for the
summer, people are more likely to want to read about it and will therefore be more likely to want to read the
magazine.
Legal and Ethical issues
What is IPSO ?
The independent Press Standards organisation is the director for the all the newspapers and magazines in the
UK. They allow the press to be able to maintain the freedom of their expression.
What does IPSO do ?
•They ensure that everyone follows the editors code
•They ensure that if a magazine or newspaper doesn’t follow the editors code its corrected before its
published.
•They make sure that the magazines and newspapers produce an annual statement about following the editors
code.
•They have a 24 hour advice line.
•They provide training to maintain their high standards.
How is it run ?
The board is made up of 11 people which are all selected by the appointments panel. A majority of the people
in the panel have no connection with the newspaper or magazine industry but they do have experience in the
press standards industry.
https://www.ipso.co.uk
Editors code of practice
The Editors' Code of Practice is the foundation stone of the UK press self-regulatory system. It sets out the rules
that the voluntarily subscribing newspaper and magazine industry members have pledged to accept.
The clauses which relate to my magazine is firstly accuracy because I need to ensure that all the information
that I put in my magazine must be true and supported by some type of evidence. Another clause which relates
to my magazine is privacy because I will need to make sure that any information published entitles respect for
peoples private and family lives and I am not allowed to publish anything without their consent. Finally the last
clause relating to my magazine is that I must not discriminate against an individuals race, colour, religion, sex,
gender identity sexual orientation or any illness or disability.
Data Protection act
The 1998 Data Protection Act is a law designed to protect personal data stored on computers or in an
organised paper filing system.
The Data Protection Act relates to my magazine because the data stored on the employees computers need to
be protected so therefore other people aren’t able to access the companies information and therefore the
customers details which are stored on the computers aren’t at risk of being stolen or used by other companies.
This could result in unsatisfied customers and therefore could reduce the amount of copies sold in the future
for the magazine.
Risk assessment
Software Risk Assessment
Resizing an image:
When resizing an image on Photoshop I had to ensure
that I maintained a high professional quality. I found
the best way to resize the images was through the
transform tool. To stop the picture becoming
pixelated I held down the shift key when resizing the
image this stopped the picture looking stretched
which would mean it would look unprofessional.
Eyedropper tool:
I used the eyedropper tool in order to keep a good
consistent colour scheme for my magazine. The tool
allows you to be able to find a specific colour for each
object on the page. Therefore meaning I could match
the colour of the masthead to the main image for
example.

Conclusion
In this learning outcome I looked into the feedback in which I received about my pitch. This
allowed me to be able to see exactly how I could improve my pitch and therefore I could make
the improvements to my pitch. I gained my feedback through a online survey through Survey
monkey from my peers and teachers.
I used the research from my Survey monkey questions in order to collate the information and
therefore decide some conclusions in order to improve.

  • 30. Calendar events The date that may cause conflict with my magazine is the bank holiday on the 29th May which therefore may mean that employees won’t have to work so therefore it could result in the day of my magazine getting released being delayed. The day in which my magazine will be distributed will be on the 23rd June so therefore I will need to ensure that the design of my magazine and all of the advertising of the magazine is all completed to a very high standard and that the printing of the magazine has the correct amount of copies and they are printed to a very high quality to ensure that my magazine attracts the most amount of readers possible. My magazine will be released in June, this is a good thing because it is the beginning of summer so therefore including headlines about the new music being released for the summer and information about festivals for the summer, people are more likely to want to read about it and will therefore be more likely to want to read the magazine.
  • 31. Legal and Ethical issues What is IPSO ? The independent Press Standards organisation is the director for the all the newspapers and magazines in the UK. They allow the press to be able to maintain the freedom of their expression. What does IPSO do ? •They ensure that everyone follows the editors code •They ensure that if a magazine or newspaper doesn’t follow the editors code its corrected before its published. •They make sure that the magazines and newspapers produce an annual statement about following the editors code. •They have a 24 hour advice line. •They provide training to maintain their high standards. How is it run ? The board is made up of 11 people which are all selected by the appointments panel. A majority of the people in the panel have no connection with the newspaper or magazine industry but they do have experience in the press standards industry. https://www.ipso.co.uk
  • 32. Editors code of practice The Editors' Code of Practice is the foundation stone of the UK press self-regulatory system. It sets out the rules that the voluntarily subscribing newspaper and magazine industry members have pledged to accept. (www.editorscode.org.uk/) The clauses which relate to my magazine is firstly accuracy because I need to ensure that all the information that I put in my magazine must be true and supported by some type of evidence. Another clause which relates to my magazine is privacy because I will need to make sure that any information published entitles respect for peoples private and family lives and I am not allowed to publish anything without their consent. Finally the last clause relating to my magazine is that I must not discriminate against an individuals race, colour, religion, sex, gender identity sexual orientation or any illness or disability.
  • 33. Data Protection act The 1998 Data Protection Act is a law designed to protect personal data stored on computers or in an organised paper filing system. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/ict/legal/0dataprotectionactrev1.shtml). The Data Protection Act relates to my magazine because the data stored on the employees computers need to be protected so therefore other people aren’t able to access the companies information and therefore the customers details which are stored on the computers aren’t at risk of being stolen or used by other companies. This could result in unsatisfied customers and therefore could reduce the amount of copies sold in the future for the magazine.
  • 34. Risk assessment Software Risk Assessment Resizing an image: When resizing an image on Photoshop I had to ensure that I maintained a high professional quality. I found the best way to resize the images was through the transform tool. To stop the picture becoming pixelated I held down the shift key when resizing the image this stopped the picture looking stretched which would mean it would look unprofessional. Eyedropper tool: I used the eyedropper tool in order to keep a good consistent colour scheme for my magazine. The tool allows you to be able to find a specific colour for each object on the page. Therefore meaning I could match the colour of the masthead to the main image for example.

  • 37. Conclusion In this learning outcome I looked into the feedback in which I received about my pitch. This allowed me to be able to see exactly how I could improve my pitch and therefore I could make the improvements to my pitch. I gained my feedback through a online survey through Survey monkey from my peers and teachers. I used the research from my Survey monkey questions in order to collate the information and therefore decide some conclusions in order to improve.
