VLE - Lesson Check Lists Part 1
- 1. Although the VLE contains many features these are the basic skills every teacher must know to begin using the VLE in effectivley. How to log into the VLE Navigating to your departmental workspace Uploading documents Creating Links Creating Announcements The following slides contain check lists to make preparing your VLE based lesson straight forward. Laptop Lesson Checklist - STAFF In preparation for your Laptop lesson you should Upload relevant documents to your departmental workspace Make sure that documents are clearly labeled, new folders can be created to separate documents if needed Add relevant links to your links list You can copy the link from internet explorer and add it to the links list for students to click on. These can be removed after each subject / topic and replaced with new links as needed Create a new Announcement informing the students of the new documents and a brief description of their tasks for the lesson These can include attachments (Preferably something like your lesson plan but in a student friendly format)

Visit the departmental workspace on the VLE Check for new Announcements Visit links & / or download required Documents When students click on documents from the VLE they may be asked if they wish to “Open” or “Save” them, they should always save them to their Z:drive / home area before editing. - 4. Information is the key To assist with using the VLE in this way, you could use your own Lesson Plans to create a student friendly “Mini Lesson Plan” to keep the students informed of their tasks.
