- 2. Today, the internet plays a major role in our lives, and online studying is the latest trend among students of all ages. As students ourselves, we often come across situations where we have to sit up for hours on the internet to look for study material. Since online learning and discussions have become so prominent, they provoke more confrontational and direct communication The urge to develop a software that would not only gain us marks but be of practical use as well, led to the idea of developing a something that can be used by instructors as an electronic extension of their classrooms, and basically promote online learning and give each individual the same opportunity to speak up…we call it the new ‘Way to Learn’….
- 3. Objectives To put unlimited additional resources in the hands of students. To provide public areas to post information. For students to experience a sense of equality. To enhance faculty-to-student contact. To enable student-centered teaching approaches. Provide 24x7 accesses to course materials-anytime, anywhere. Reduce faculty workload as tests and corrections become semi-automated. To make teaching and learning fun!
- 4. Features 1. Authentication of users with a login-id and password. 2. Common discussion boards to enable students to post their queries; which can be replied to by teachers as well as other students. 3. Provision for students to directly post questions to their desired teacher through the teacher’s personal discussion board, visible only to that particular teacher. The teachers reply will be posted to the common discussion board along with the question. 4. Students can download notes. 5. They can appear for tests. 6. Automated assessment of tests appeared by students; results will be made available immediately after the students appear for the test. 7. They can download worksheets that are actually expired tests papers which can serve as a reference source for students. 8. Facility for teachers to upload study material and test papers which then can be downloaded by students. 9. News feed that enables teachers to make important announcements. 10. An administrator account that can be used to insert or delete users, upgrade students and monitor the whole site.
- 7. Teachers are asked to select the subjects they teach, according to standard. User clicks on ‘Register as a student’ or ‘Register as a teacher’ link. Student registration or Teacher registration form opens up. Visitor enters his gr no., firstname and lastname for verification. Selects and enters a username and password of his choice. Students are asked to enter the standard they belong to, and their div with roll no.

For example, instructors may supplement an on-campus class by putting their syllabus and handouts on the site or courses may be conducted entirely through Way to Learn, without any on-campus sessions.
