Week 2
- 1. Production diary – week 2 I have used this week to think more about what I should do for my music video and to think of some ideas for it. To do this, I have started on the research evidence section of my coursework which will help me plan for my video and to help me gain some thought into how music videos work and its background so that I will understand its purpose which will allow me to think of why people would want to watch music videos. This will help me to think about those factors and think about what I will want to consider when it comes to creating my own video. Research started with looking at the history of music videos. I had used information from the internet to look at how the music video all started and how it has evolved and become more successful and advanced over time. This will help me when it comes to the evaluation section of my coursework because with evaluating my own work, a question to do with the subject of promotion and how my music video may be accessed, might come up. The history of the music video will come useful in this section because part of the research included the ways people access music videos and the most popular ways of seeing them. This includes sites on the internet such as YouTube which has become a huge hit overtime for music videos. As I have found this piece of information out in the process of my research to do with the history of music videos, it will come useful when talking about how to promote my music video and the ways where I can have them on show so that more people are able to view it. The next evidence of research I completed was the conventions of a music video. To demonstrate this research, I have used a previous typical music video that had included all of the usual conventions that people would normally find in any music video. This was helpful, because I has made me more aware of the different important conventions that I should consider when creating my music video. Factors such as mis-en-scene, props and lighting are just a few that I should think about including in my music video. The last evidence of research that I had completed this week, was the research into existing music labels. From this, I had discovered that there was 4 big companies for music labels in the music industry that I did my research on. Again, I had used information from the internet to search this up. I looked into the different artists that had belonged in each of the company labels. This will help me again with the evaluation of my music video because a question asking which label my artist for my music video might come up, if so, this research will come in useful as I now have information about each company, therefore I will find it easier to choose which company which will be most suited for my artist as I will choose the company that has signed similar artists to mine as they have gained success with help by the company which hopefully will do the same to mine.
