- 2. During the construction of my magazine I used a variety of programmes, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. To produce my front cover and contents I used Photoshop. I made a variety of mastheads for my magazine using a wide variety of fonts and colours, I then printed these and asked members of my target audience which they preferred and why and then what they didn't like about each masthead. I took all feedback into account and produced my final masthead, my final masthead was similar to one I designed previously except I added liquefy effect. I selected the size of the brush I wanted to use to add the effect and then enlarged my masthead and added the effect letter by letter, it was a lengthy process but after getting positive feedback on my masthead with the effect added I decided this was the one I was going to use. This is my masthead after I added the effect liquefy, I am happy with this and have learnt a lot about Photoshop's features through doing this.
- 3. I also used Photoshop to cut around my cover image and the image on my double page spread by using the pen tool. I carefully went around both images with the pen tool to ensure my images looked as professional as possible; from this I learnt how to cut around images using Photoshop precisely to ensure they are neat and look professional. The images to the left is the image I used for my front cover before I used the pen tool on Photoshop and after.
- 4. This is my image on the front cover of my magazine. Photoshop also allowed me to add a barcode which is a necessity in order for my magazine to look professional. Photoshop was a good and useful programme for the creative aspects of my magazine such as mastheads, images, headings and also adding effects to images and text. I feel by using such tools on Photoshop I have gained a more professional style throughout my magazine. I have learnt how to cut images out, add effects to images, add effects to mastheads, airbrush images and overall have gained a good knowledge of how to use Photoshop.
- 5. I also used Adobe InDesign to create my double page spread. This programme was really useful when it came to placing my text and images onto my double page spread. It enabled me to see clearly where things would be on my double page spread and enabled me to manipulate things easily until I was happy with the end result. I learnt how to change colours of certain text, how to place text and images onto my double page spread, how to add effects to text using InDesign and how to spread text across two pages without it looking unprofessional and messy. Before constructing my magazine I hadn't used either Photoshop or InDesign before; therefore throughout this process I have learnt a lot about both programmes and now feel comfortable with using them and have got reasonable knowledge of the tools and effects each programme has to offer.
