- 2. Motivation of the project Irregularity in Ordering. Wastage of time. Customer dissatisfaction. Poor management. Increased manpower.

Objective Of The Project Aim of the project is to develop a prototype of a system based on Embedded micro controller(PIC16) which is used for ordering in hotel using touch screen and graphical LCD. Also at the other end, a graphical interface is designed for taking the orders from different tables and to give the confirmation.
- 4. INTRODUCTION This project involves developing a prototype for customer self- ordering system in restaurants or hotels. In the proposed system, Zigbee is used to transmit the data from transmitter to the receiver. There is a Micro-controllers at transmitter (customer table) and MAX232 at receiver (kitchen) provide interface that is required to communicate microcontroller with RS 232 based devices using serial communication link.
- 5. Whenever a customer comes to a table, they can select their order with the help of a Graphical LCD with touch screen provided. This GLCD displays MENU items with its corresponding images or pictures, so the customer has the choice of selecting the item with its picture. As soon as the customer selects the item, it will be displayed on the PC provided in the receiver section.
- 7. Power Supply Unit Power supply is designed to convert high voltage AC mains electricity to a suitable low voltage DC supply for electronics circuits and other devices. It can be broken down into a series of blocks, each of which performs a particular function.
- 8. Zigbee Zigbee is a new global standard for wireless Connectivity. Zigbee is a Communications standard that provides a short range cost effective networking capability. It has been developed with the emphasis on low-cost battery powered applications. Zigbee defines mesh, star and cluster Tree network topologies with data security features and interoperable application profiles.

- 12. SOFTWARE REQUIRED A Cross compiler for compiling and linking the code written for PIC16 (Mikro C/MPLAB). Serial communication software for downloading code to PIC16(u CFlash PIC). Operating System: Windows 2000/XP/7. Application program development in Embedded C. GUI design using Lab-VIEW. Proteus SW for circuit simulation.

- 14. The main drawback of the system is it does not give the feedback of the requests to the user. This can be eliminated using GSM modem which sends the SMS messages about the requests to the manager when the responder does not respond to the requests of the user. The system can also extend using smart card technology through which the bill payment can be done based on the smart ATM debit or credit- cards directly. The printer can directly issue bills to the customers at tables only.
