HYPERLOOP
(5TH MODE OF TRANSPORATION)
ADITYA SHARMA
ROLL NO :- 3
Alpha
Introduction
• The Hyperloop is a new way to move people or things
anywhere in the world quickly, safely, efficiently, on-
demand and with minimal impact to the environment.
• The Hyperloop Alpha concept was first published in
August 2013, proposing and examining a route running
from the Los Angeles region to the San Francisco Bay
Area.
• The Hyperloop concept has been put explicitly "open-
sourced" by Elon Musk, and others have been
encouraged to take the ideas and further develop them.
2
The Backstory
Sci-fi writers and dreamers have long envisioned ways to travel at
high speeds through low-pressure tubes. Rocketry pioneer Robert
Goddard in 1909 proposed a vacuum train very similar in concept to
the Hyperloop. In 1972, the RAND Corp. conceived a supersonic
underground railway called the Vactrain. The idea was waiting for
the right combination of talent, technology, and business case to
become a reality.
3
Why Do We Need Hyperloop?
• A growing global economy requires faster, cheaper, safer and
more efficient transportation modes.
• Our roads, airports, and ports are congested. We haven’t had a
major new form of transport in 100 years, and we’re due for one,
especially one that is ultra-fast, on-demand, direct, emission-free,
energy efficient, quiet and has a smaller footprint than other high-
speed transport modes.
• Hyperloop will be additive to existing forms of transportation and
will integrate seamlessly with the transport ecosystem.
4
How Is Hyperloop Different From
High Speed Trains..?
• There are four key differences which are as follows:
5
Supersonic
Speed
Minimum no.
of stops
Environment
friendly
Different
technology

ROUTES & COSTS
• Capital and operating costs will range widely based on route and
application (passenger, cargo) but third parties have concluded
that the capital and operational costs of a hyperloop system could
be two-thirds that of high-speed.
• Difficult to say as it will depend greatly on the route, but the goal is
to make it affordable for everyone.
• Indian State of Maharashtra announces their intent to build first
hyperloop route in India and signs historic agreement with Virgin
Hyperloop One beginning with an operational demonstration
track.

Key Investors
• Key investors to hyperloop transpotation system in India :-
Sir Richard Branson – Co Founder & Chairman of Virgin group.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem – CEO & Group Chairman of DP
world
Ziyavudin Magmodov – Chairman of Summa group

Components Of Hyperloop
1. Capsule
2. Tube
3. Propulsion
11
Capsule
• Sealed capsules carrying 28 passengers each that travel along the
interior of the tube.
• The maximum width is 4.43 ft (1.35 m) and maximum height is 6.11
ft (1.10 m).
• With rounded corners, this is equivalent to a 15 ft2 (1.4 m2) frontal
area
• It will not be including any propulsion or suspension components.
12
Tube
• The tube is made of steel. Two tubes will be welded together in a
side by side configuration to allow the capsules to travel both
directions.
• Pylons are placed every 100 ft (30 m) to support the tube.
• Solar arrays will cover the top of the tubes in order to provide
power to the system.
• The tube cross-sectional area is 42.2 ft.
13
Propulsion
• Linear accelerators are constructed along the length of the tube at
various locations to accelerate the capsules.
• Stators are located on the capsules to transfer momentum to the
capsules via the linear accelerators.
14
Mechanism Of Hyperloop
• How to maintain good speed :
1.In-front of train an air compressor fan is used to decrease air
density in hyperloop tube so that air resistance become very less.
2.Air bearing is required to remove air outside the tube.
• How to reduce speed: Compressor fan and electromagnetic motor
will further reduce the speed of train.
15
CONCLUSION
• The intent of this technology has been to create a new open
source form of transportation that could revolutionize travel and
further additional technological developments and optimization
could likely reduce this price.
• Every sector is somehow connected with transportation system, so
with the implement of hyperloop it will become convenient for all
in different perspective.
