• A person with dementia may have difficulty
focusing on conversation so we may need
to change our communication strategies.
• These will need to be considered when we
plan and implement an individuals needs.

• A “talking mat” is helping people with
dementia communicate more effectively
with carers and feel more involved in
decisions about their lives, according to
research published by the Joseph
Rowntree Foundation.
