This paper proposes a sense-based registration process for implementing TDMA in IEEE 802.11 networks to improve fairness and throughput. The new mechanism addresses the limitations of the current CSMA/CA registration process, reducing the number of unused timeslots during node registration. Simulation results indicate that the proposed registration process allows registration of ten nodes in about 62.5 ms, significantly decreasing wasted timeslots compared to synchronous TDMA approaches.
