Geospatial technology, which combines location data with other information and was introduced in the 1980s, allows visualization, measurement, and analysis of Earth-based features using GPS, GIS, and RS. The current geospatial project is Sky Cube, a nanosatellite proposed by Tim DeBenedictis that would take Earth images from space and share them on social media to further public knowledge of location-based technologies and their potential for addressing issues like climate change, disease tracking, and cultural connections.
