A2 Practical Evaluation
(Yay...you’re favourite part!!!)
Learning Objectives
• Do I understand the success criteria for the
evaluation?
• Can I use the success criteria and apply it to my
own learning?
• Can I differentiate which areas of my learning
will be relevant to each section of the evaluation?
To start...
• Think about the AS Evaluation you completed.
• What do you think you did well?
• Which areas would you liked to have improved?
EXT: Think about your use of technology how are
you going to match/exceed that this year?
Success Criteria
Have you shown...?
• Understanding of forms and convention used in
productions
• Understanding of the role and use of new media in
various stages of the production
• Understanding of the combination of main product
and ancillary texts
• Understanding of the significance of audience
feedback
• Skill in choice of form in which to present the
evaluation
• Ability to communicate
• Use of digital technology or ICT in the evaluation.
The evaluation questions...
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop
or challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?
2. How effective is the combination of your main
products and ancillary texts?
3. What have you learned from your audience
feedback?
4. How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?
Which of these questions are similar to your AS
Evaluation? Which ones do you think are going to
require new evaluation skills?
Break it down...
• In pairs you have one (or two) of the evaluation questions.
• In your pairs break down the question thinking about:
a) What are the key words in the question? What is it asking of
you?
b) What areas of your work you might discuss in your answer?
c) What examples from your portfolio that you may need to
include in the answer?
d) Which areas of the success criteria do you think directly link
with your question?
(EXT): Try to come up with a basic plan for the question.
Sharing is Caring...
• As a class you are going to share your ideas and
together you will build on your answers.
1. Do you think the other pairs have evaluated the
needs of their question correctly?
2. What other elements could the question be
looking for in your answer?
