The OPEN DEI project aims to coordinate and support digital platform and pilot projects across multiple sectors. It coordinates 26+ projects in manufacturing, agrifood, energy, and healthcare. The goal is to identify synergies, promote cross-fertilization, and support knowledge transfer between the projects. OPEN DEI takes a four-fold approach of supporting digital platforms, large-scale pilots, ecosystem building, and facilitating standardization. It seeks to increase the impact of projects selected under the EU's Digital Europe initiative.

OPEN DEI: A bit of History 3 – The DEI Communication on April 2016: The purpose of this Communication is to reinforce the EU's competitiveness in digital technologies and to ensure that every industry in Europe, in whichever sector, wherever situated, and no matter of what size can fully benefit from digital innovations. – Materializing DEI in concrete actions working groups: Partnerships, DIHs & Skills, Platforms & Standards Platforms and Pilots

OPEN DEI: Focus on Platforms and Pilots 4 DT-ICT-13-2019: Digital Platforms / Pilots Horizontal Activities Specific Challenge: Coordination and Support activities are needed to support the operation of the pilot projects under the Platforms and Pilots topics in this Focus Area, and to support exploitation of the outcomes of these projects. These activities are expected to identify synergies among the pilot projects of the Focus Area, to promote cross-fertilisation, and to exchange best-practices and lessons learned. There is a need to increase coverage in technological, application, innovation, and geographic terms of these projects, as well as improve their engagement with relevant external stakeholders, and their links with regional/national and other European initiatives. a) Support pilot activities and knowledge transfer across different sectors: Coordination of the selected platform and pilot projects under the topics of this Focus Area, and where applicable with similar initiatives in Member States and Associated Countries, and with standardisation initiatives and support in ecosystem building to increase the impact of the overall set of projects. Exploitation of synergies between technology-based platform and pilot activities such as IoT and data value chains and the sector-specific platform and piloting projects of the Focus Area related to issues such as architecture, interoperability and standards approaches. Exchange on requirements for the development of common methodologies for design, testing and validation and for success and impact measurement. Furthermore, proposals need to promote the results obtained, support the enlargement of the ecosystems around the projects, facilitate the access for entrepreneurs/API developers/Makers and SMEs in general, and support the transfer of skills and know-how to industry.

- 6. The OPEN DEI Ecosystem: 4 domains, 26+ Projects MANUFACTURING: Three LSPs in 2019, new 3 LSPs in 2020 and 1 CSA (Connected Factories 2 Dec 2019) form our ecosystem. Support to an existing DMP cluster since beg. 2019. Strong link with DIH projects (DT-ICT-01, 02, 03). 7+ projects (DT-ICT-07) AGRIFOOD: Two LSPs ATLAS and DEMETER (DT-ICT-08) integrated in our ecosystem, joint cluster with pre-existing projects, in particular the IOF2020 IOT LSP, SmartAgriHub and AgROBOFood (DT-ICT-02). 5+ projects (DT-ICT-08 and waiting for DT-ICT-09) ENERGY: DT-ICT-10 INTERCONNECT integrated since September 2019. Three new Big Data LSPs joining (DT-ICT-11). Joint cluster BRIDGE with pre-existing projects such CoordiNet, INTERRFACE and PlatOne. 7+ projects (DT-ICT-10 and DT-ICT-11) HEALTH & CARE: DT-ICT-12 just opened the call (Hospital of the future).
