This document discusses a study on early detection of melanoma skin cancer using an artificial neural network (ANN) approach. The proposed method employs first-order feature extraction based on image texture and utilizes a multilayer perceptron for classification, achieving accuracy rates between 80% and 88.88% through various training sets of dermatoscopic images. The findings suggest a potential advancement in computer-assisted diagnosis, emphasizing the importance of image processing techniques for melanoma detection.
