The document presents the design and implementation of a low phase noise phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer using the PE83336 IC, aimed at generating stable signals for space applications. Experimental results demonstrate a frequency resolution of 5.8 MHz and phase noise performance better than -81 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz offset, which is crucial for effective wireless communication systems. The PLL synthesizer's components, including a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and an active loop filter, are discussed in terms of their roles in achieving the desired performance.
