openED Overview 7 European organisations have collaboratively generated a business & management course, open in certain ways: Research methods : website logging; observation of forum interactions & chat sessions; surveys; semi-structured interviews; learning diaries; learning design analysis free open to 3rd party service providers (for e.g. facilitation, assessment & certification) FLOSS-style participatory learning OER-based, building on H809 & OpenLearn Web 2.0 development of learning materials Research questions : What happens to the community, the materials, the learning? Comparisons with formal education? With informal learning? 10 modules, each lasting 10-30 hours. Currently in 2 nd  presentation.
Preliminary Findings adopting an Open Educational Service approach introduces much more complexity than simply re-using OER issues of international, inter-institutional curriculum design include languages, student support levels & coherence issues of designing learning for international online participation include timetabling & varying levels of participant commitment issues of OER reuse include audience & author motivations Implications & Impact more research needed into the development trajectories of materials, participants’ work & community interest in amalgamated international satisfaction survey proposal from UNU for Open Education Service Platform http://www.open-ed.eu
