Think-Tell-Share
Based on the picture what is
communication? Who can define?
Let us define the word
“communication”
Communication is the act or
process of using words, sounds,
signs, or behaviors to express or
exchange information or to
express your ideas, thoughts,
feelings, etc., to someone else
(Webster Dictionary).
Communication is a two-way
process of reaching mutual
understanding, in which participants
do not only exchange (encode-
decode) information, news, ideas
and feelings but also create and
share meaning. In general,
communication is a means of
connecting people or places
Communication is the
process of transmitting
information and common
understanding from one
person to another (Lunenburg,
2010).
Communication is the process
by which the message is
transmitted from the source to
the receiver (Rogers, 1983).
Communication is anything that
conveys meaning, that carries a
message from one person to
another (Brooker, 1949).
Let us do a short activity: Explain
briefly, Why Yes or No…
NATURE OF COMMUNICATION YE
S
NO
Show me your illustration
Directions. In your notebook
illustrate or draw citing how
communication is being
processed. Then explain
briefly below of your drawing
the processed.(5 minutes)
1. define communication and the nature and process of communication
Communication is made up of
several components:
Stage 1: Sending the Message
a. Speaker/ Sender- Source of the
message
b. Message- any information
c. Medium- form in which the convey the
message: letter, email, blog,
conversation and other like.
d. Channel- mode, method, or means of
sending or expressing message(
through senses, video, or audio)
Stage 2: Receiving the Message
a. Listener- gets the message
b. Feedback- receiver’s response
c. Context- situation in which
communication takes place (time,
place, feelings, perceptions, beliefs,
attitudes, and relationship)
d. Noise (interference or distraction)
Briefly, the communication process starts
when the speaker/sender encodes (or uses
language to express) his message in his
medium and sends it via his selected
channel. The listener/receiver gets the
message, decodes (or understands) it, and
gives his feedback. Context serves as the
backdrop of the communication as regards to
who is communicating with whom, and when,
where, an dhow their communication is
taking place. Noise or interference may
occur while sending, receiving, or answering
Let us have an oral quiz
1. Source of the
message
2. Information
3. Gets the message
4. Email
5. Method in sending
the message
6. Response
7. interference
a. Feedback
b. Receiver
c. Medium
d. Channel
e. Noise
f. Sender
g. message
