- 1. P2 - The purpose of different types of computer systems Laptop Tablet Desktop Server Smartphones Games Console Embedded Adam Richardson Systems
- 2. Laptop The laptop is made for portability so that you can work and connect to the internet while away from a desktop. The laptop is generally not as powerful as a desktop and some won’t even have CD drives so the laptop wouldn’t be suited for someone interested in running graphic intensive games or software.
- 3. Tablet The Tablet computer is usually lager than a mobile phone and has an integrated touch screen. Rather than using a keyboard it often features an on screen touch keyboard.
- 4. Desktop The desktop computer is a personal computer intended for regular use at a single location (I.e. Home, Work, School)
- 5. Server The Server, is a computer hardware system that runs to serve requests on behalf of the other computers on the network. Servers com in different types to do different jobs (I.e. Database servers, Mail servers, Print servers and Web servers)
- 6. Smartphones Smartphones have the combined functions of a PDA and mobile or camera phone. Most modern smartphones are built to include the functions of GPS, pocket video cameras and portable media players.
- 7. Games Console Games Consoles are interactive entertainment computers that produce video display signals that can be used with a display device (I.e. TV, Monitor, etc.)
- 8. Embedded Systems Embedded Systems are computer systems designed for specific control functions within a larger system. They are used for a range of devices such as digital watches and MP3 players.
