The ATMOSPHERE project is a 24-month European Commission-funded project aiming to develop a platform to support the execution of trustworthy cloud services across multiple cloud providers. The platform will assess the trustworthiness of services and applications based on properties like security, privacy, and fairness. It will also monitor applications at runtime to ensure trustworthiness goals are maintained. The project builds on previous work to provide tools for secure data processing, analytics services, and hybrid cloud resource management. A sustainability plan is being developed to continue using and developing the main assets of the ATMOSPHERE platform after the project's completion.

- 3. 3 Assessing trust • Trust is a relationship that involves two agents: • a trust subject (or trustor), and • a trust object (or trustee) • A trust relationship between a trustor and a trustee is built on a trust matter within specific trust circumstance • For example, a user (the trustor) may trust a cloud service (the trustee) to analyze his/her data (the trust matter) when privacy is not its priority (the trust circumstance) July 16th, 2019, Belém Workshop on Cloud Networks
- 4. 4 Trustworthiness of a trustee • The trustor wants to compute the trustworthiness score (trust level) of a trustee A, on a trust matter M, under circumstance C, measured by the function T(A, M, C) • Assessing trustworthiness requires continuously collecting evidences about the behaviour of the trustee to compute the relevant trustworthiness scores • The ATMOSPHERE platform provides services that: • Increase the trustworthiness of services and applications that use them • Assess the trustworthiness of services and applications • Adapt the services and applications at runtime, so that their trustworthiness is kept at targeted objectives July 16th, 2019, Belém Workshop on Cloud Networks
