What is Debating?
A debate is a structured exchange of opinions.  Two sides
speak alternately for and against a particular contention
usually based on a topical issue
Why debate?
It is an excellent way of improving speaking skills and is
particularly helpful in providing experience in developing a
convincing argument and looking for solutions to different
problems nalysing different points of view

Some useful expression :

Eg. I don’t agree teachers shold be friendly and nice
On one hand ……. on the other hand
Eg. One one hand I think they should be professional and severe but
on the other hand they should understand their students
To sum up
Eg. To sum up both the attitutes are important there should be a
balance
Establishing roles in the group

A group leader establishes the different roles inside
the group and defines the management of the activity
 A time keeper : controls the time and gives
suggestions to respect the deadline of the task
Two reporters report how the group has
worked (they need to take notes)
 Two /3 speakers will speak about the group results

teachers point out positive attitudes
Group 2 Considering relationship between students and teachers
point out negative attitudes to be avoided

that give the students a feeling of belonging, motivation and
interest when they go to school ?
