This document discusses the design and simulation of a broadband rectangular microstrip antenna (RMSA) for operation in the X-band at a center frequency of 10 GHz. It explores various techniques to enhance antenna performance, including lowering the quality factor, shifting the feeding point, using reactive loading, and modifying patch shapes, ultimately identifying Duroid 5880 and quartz as optimal materials for broader bandwidth and improved mechanical characteristics. The findings, achieved through simulations using the Microwave Office package, highlight increased VSWR bandwidths of up to 30.9% for quartz.
