Roles and Responsibilities For the Summer Session: Registered correctly (check prerequisites, make sure students are enrolled in summer, not fall.) Distribute student checklist with NCVPS and school expectations Ensure students have connectivity
Roles and Responsibilities For the Summer Session: Ensure students have materials Act as liaison between student and instructor Drop by 10th Day if not participating  Administer EOC and CTE exams Record final grades

Which course should I choose? Accelerated or Credit Recovery Accelerated courses traditionally for first time credit NCVPS teachers open each week’s learning at the beginning of each week; is not a self-paced course the semester long course taught in 8 weeks (thus, the word “accelerated”) Requires 3 to 4 hours daily Requires students to interact daily with the teacher through email
Which course should I choose? Accelerated or Credit Recovery Credit Recovery courses students who have previously taken the course and failed it self-paced; students pre-assess at the beginning of each module or unit to determine their prior knowledge.  If a student has failed one of the ten Credit Recovery courses, students should be enrolled in the CR course rather than the ACC course Requires 3 to 4 hours daily Requires students to interact daily with the teacher through email and requires some kind of weekly synchronous contact

Credit Recovery Best Practices A lab is open and available for students to work during the week. Some schools open the lab anywhere from 1 to 5 days a week. Some schools require attendance while others leave it flexible. If the student is not working in a lab, school contact still makes weekly contact with student. School contact knows students' status in terms of working; follows up with students when mastery charts/status forms are sent out weekly.

Registration Scenario What would be the suitable course (ACC or CR) and the best environment (lab or from home) for the following students: “ C” student who is taking Algebra 1. Student who failed Advanced Functions with a 29 average. “ A” student who is taking Spanish 3 Honors. Student who failed the course with a 62 average.

Important Dates
The 1 st  Ten Days Create group emails for students and instructors. Encourage students to complete the orientation. Ensure students can login and access the course.
The 1 st  Ten Days Day 2 - Activity Report. Day 5 (June 19) - Last day to enroll. Day 6  - Activity Report. Day 10 (June 26) - Last day to drop without penalty.

Issues and Solutions Issue: Student cannot contact the instructor. Solution: Have the student copy in the DLA when there’s a communication issue with an instructor.
Issues and Solutions Issue: The DLA cannot contact the instructor. Solution: Copy in the Regional Consultant (VLC) in your communication with the instructor.
Issues and Solutions Issue: Student has problems with Blackboard. Solution: Presidium 1-866-223-1028 - 24/7 Helpdesk. (Blackboard)
Issues and Solutions Issue: Student has problems with content in the course. Solution: The student must contact the instructor with all content- related questions.

Orientations for Students and Parents Utilize Current NCVPS Online Orientations Student Support Services Orientation (For students) Blackboard Student Orientation (available first day of class) Student Orientation Videos  Orientation 1  for the start of the semester. Scenario “ I want my child to take an internet course. What is it and how do we get started?” Does your school have a process for this?  Do you have available resources to make your life easier?  What if it’s a call to the front desk?
LEA Support - Based Best Practices Labs open for help during the day either at the school level or district level.  Tutors or mentors available for courses.
LEA Support - Based Best Practices Letter to parents explaining  school’s e-learning process expectations for the students lab requirements, etc.  Weekly contact (phone or email) with students who are not in a lab setting.
