development efforts on e-learning • Attempts to replicate distance learning through online technologies
• Broadband access is poor, but fast developing • Online learning instructional design is key, but always
neglected E-Learning in India E-Learning Asia Day Presentation by Dr. Sanjaya Mishra

Suggestions • Establishment of Indian Council for Online Learning as a statutory
body to: – Develop a national distributed repository of Learning Objects –
Maintain standard of Online Learning – Coordinate and promote Online
Learning – Accreditation of Online Learning courses and programmes – Develop
and maintain Online Learning Portals for life long learning • Establishment of a
“e-Learning Consortium” including member educational institutions to offer e-
learning programmes without duplicating efforts • Develop facilities for online
training of teachers and administrators • Facilitate development of small
learning objects by teachers E-Learning in India E-Learning Asia Day
