Business Description Enterprise Development Trust Corporation (EDTC) is a not for profit organization based in Dorchester, MA that is established to build local microenterprises into viable small businesses that are positioned to scale.  We work with micro-lenders, community-based organizations and institutions for developing systems  to support entrepreneurs and microenterprise owners.  We therefore coach and train unemployed professionals in the skills needed to provide small business support as a workforce development training service.  We are also prepared to train entrepreneurs in modules that support small business development. EDTC was founded by Hajar Logan who has an extensive background in providing small business and microenterprise clients with customer service management, business process development, financial management, marketing, strategic planning and writing RFQ and RFP responses. Ms. Logan’s partners include Hyat Said (small business development coach), June Roberts (experienced educator) Maryam Abdul-Rahim (Accountant and small business financial management expert).
Mission To build successful small business enterprises through entrepreneurship training,  executive coaching, management consulting and marketing support. To support and improve the initiatives of community–based organizations, Micro-lenders and institutions that serve microenterprises by strengthening their organizational capacity to successfully build microenterprises.  Small Business Enterprises that we work with dominate their local markets and are able to expand successfully without loans being a significant part of their cash flow.  Microenterprises that we serve are able to more efficiently support their business owners, maintain management practices and procedures and seek opportunities to scale. Vision
Biographies Hajar Logan:  Ms. Logan has over 10 years of experience in business planning, marketing and development, as well as in building administrative structures and service delivery processes for small businesses.  As the former head of Logan Communications International, Ms. Logan designed and implemented marketing, administrative and management practices for both start-up and existing businesses. Logan Communications delivered comprehensive business and marketing plans and designed all supporting and relevant literature.  Ms.  Logan was also known for developing unique and consistent brands for clients through marketing communications products that include brochures, logo and slogan designs and development, websites, white papers, flyers and the like.  Through Ms. Logan’s background in writing business plans, action and strategic plans and in reviewing grants,  Ms. Logan brought a know-how for getting funding. Ms. Logan is committed to empowering underrepresented communities toward self-sustainability.
Biographies Ha yat Said : Mr. Said has over 15 years of experience delivering both enterprise and economic development in developing countries.  As the former head of Jirga Consultants, in Pakistan, he received over a million dollars in international funding and employed over 100 people. Jirga Consultants received financial support from several large international development organizations, including UNDB, the World Bank, and Swiss Contact. Since his arrival in the United States in 2005, he has launched 2 Micro Enterprises through partnerships and has consulted on several others. Entrepreneurship training and Micro Enterprise Development are his passion and indeed what he was born to do.
Biographies With a Masters in Accountancy from Bentley College,  Maryam Abdul Rahim  has 10 years of small business accounting experience.  With a large small business network and a commitment to helping small businesses grow Ms. Abdul-Rahim is known for efficient work and smart financial management guidance. June Roberts  has over 25 years of experience as a language specialist, teaching classes of many different age groups some of which are adult learners.  With fluencies in French, English and Haitian Creole, and first-hand experience in migration to and from the United States, Ms. Roberts brings an unwavering commitment to education, and the financial and social betterment of migrant communities and their families.
Service Goals Establish an economic development and a microenterprise development network to support microenterprises on a global scale. Deliver training and coaching services that lead to systemized grassroots service delivery on a local, national and global level. We will deliver  a technology-driven, customizable  and scale-able enterprise development solution that is simultaneously local and global. Build local economies through state-of-the art microenterprise development.
Overall Service Objectives To assist, develop and provide training for small businesses and micro-enterprises through a collaborative approach unparalleled resources and expert executive coaching.  To build capacity for improved services in community-based organizations, microenterprise initiatives, nongovernmental organizations and the public sector for organizations that are committed to microenterprise development. To support existing business resource centers and establish business development centers that provide need based services in a sustainable manner. To create a system to deliver microenterprise development in local economies. To create linkages between financial services and businesses in the micro-enterprise community. To facilitate and contribute to entrepreneurship, occupational skills development and coaching programs. To address local business community issues. To promote and create awareness of environmental vitality in the micro-enterprise community.
EDTC Service Goals in Phases
Phase I: Training (April 2010-cont’d) The EDTC micro-enterprise training provides each participating professional the knowledge base to deliver the following: Skills- Structural Guidance Marketplace Assessment and Positioning Marketing: Packaging and Placement effectiveness Marketing: Leveraging Existing Customer Relationships for new customers Creating, evaluating and addressing the company’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats Analysis Financial Management Total Quality Management Balancing Capacity and Growth Entrepreneurial Leadership Tools- Self-realization: building characteristics of leadership Technology to manage client relationships Technology to manage the company’s financial picture Strategic Planning Assessment and Process Development Tools
Phase II : Case Management and Small Business Development Support  (Aug. 2010-cont’d) As a part of the training and after 3 months of coursework each student microenterprise professional begins one-on-one coaching and executive support relationships with small business owners. Each student  professional that we train is shadowed by a microenterprise expert that offers support, case management and small business development guidance. The unique value proposition that the EDTC Training offers is our Case Management and one-on-one coaching that is one-on-one and delivered by the most appropriate microenterprise professionals. Each of our Executive Coaches  has over 10 years of Micro- Enterprise experience as well as successful coaching experience. This portion of each course includes months of appointment time and follow up. Our goal is to help our microenterprise student professionals achieve a  80% success rate annually for the business owners that we train and coach.
Phase II : Systemization (Nov. 2010) We will first make the services that our student microenterprise professionals delivered in August available through online technology. The EDTC is currently developing and maintaining the technology, resources and distribution channels required to meet the needs of our student micro enterprise professionals and their clients, in November 2010.  Support our microenterprise student professionals and clients through technology that automates an offsite executive support  Offer completely customizable and scalable services through this technology and make sure it provides all small businesses and micro-enterprise back office essentials. Deliver these back-office essentials as ongoing or on-demand services in conjunction with the comprehensive small business development and leadership coaching offered through our student microenterprise professionals.
Phase II-III : Systemized Service for Micro-Enterprise Non-Governmental Service Providers  (January 2011) The Enterprise Development Trust Corp (EDTC) offers programs that both support your  existing clients : Ongoing bookkeeping and  Virtual administrative support Marketing Support Product Development and Distribution Executive Coaching … and your  potential clients Structural Guidance Executive and Managerial Assessments and Analysis Establishing Management Procedures We will simultaneously begin to globalize our system for micro enterprise development consistently incorporating a thorough evaluation process.
Phase III: Globalizing Our System Select the best countries and then towns for a pilot microenterprise program. Include micro-lending partners in the selection process. Determine the best industries to contribute to in a given region and local area. Recruit professionals from that country and town for our microenterprise development program. Select the microenterprises that will participate in the pilot program. Train them using a combination of state side and online coursework.  Offer online case management and executive support, as well. Work with one town and in one country until our success rate exceeds 80%.
Training Costs Request The EDTC is establishing a collaborative with microenterprise lenders, foundations and community development corporations to seek funding for rebuilding economically distressed areas by first building and strengthening the microenterprise and small business community in local areas.
