Procedures
GREETINGS AND SETTING THE ONLINE CLASSROOM (4 minutes)
- I will first greet my students as they join the Zoom meeting and check everyone can see me
and hear me well.
- In this first lesson, I will devote some minutes to introduce myself to those students assigned
to my practice who I haven’t had the chance to meet them before. I will greet them ‘Hello,
there! It’s nice to have the opportunity to do my practice with you, too. How are you?’. I may
resort to L1 after using L2 since learners don’t understand spoken English (L2-L1-L2).
GAME: Kahoot ‘Will for predictions’ (10 minutes). Link:
https://create.kahoot.it/share/will-for-predictions/6e1728c0-8484-4aeb-af2e-
129d38f7eec7
- I will say ‘Ok, I think we should revise a little bit the use of will for predictions. Do you
remember when we use will for predictions? Is it when we are certain that something will or
won’t happen? For example, I will finish secondary school next year or I don’t think Argentina
will win the Qatar World Cup next year.’
- I will ask ‘Have you got predictions about football, concerts, holidays? And try to encourage
to participate ‘C’mon, try one!’
- I will explain that we’re going to play an online quiz to revise ‘Will for predictions’. Listen ‘I
will share screen and you’ll see the quiz and all together will decide the order of the
predictions. Ready?’
- Then, I will share the quiz and read the different parts of the sentence eliciting the order of
statements in the first two of the puzzle quiz in this way ‘First it goes I hope, right? Then, what
follows? Students answer: we – will travel – to other planets. I will praise students once the
quiz is finished and give feedback on those tricky quiz statements.
Transition comment: Ok, now we’re going to discuss about being a positive or negative person.
What about you? Are you a positive person? Or a negative one?
FOCUS ON LANGUAGE: WILL AND WON’T FOR PREDICITONS. Link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipjh-OBZTqk (3 minutes)
- I will say ‘Well, lets’ revise briefly how we use will/won’t to talk about future predictions.
- I will introduce may/might for predictions to explain grades of certainty. Then, I will add that
for this short lesson we’ll focus on ‘will’ and the following lesson we will be working with the
rest of the scale of probabilities (might/may/could).
- I will play a Youtube video but muted so that I can explain it myself. I will skip some parts
of the video to make it more dynamic (around 1:30 minutes).
- I will pause before key moments to check comprehension and elicit students’ answers.
- The idea of this video is to check my students’ previous knowledge on the topic.
Aure, click on the Kahoot
link, then choose PLAY
and finally PREVIEW.
Thanks!
Transition comment: Ok, now we’re going to discuss about being a positive or negative person.
What about you? Are you a positive person? Or a negative one?
QUIZIZZ: ‘Think positive – or negative? (15-20 minutes). Link:
https://quizizz.com/admin/quiz/6126b5498294c7001d052f53
- I will share the ‘Quizizz presentation Class’ and I will follow the instructions in the class
presentation. For example, ‘Are you an optimist person?’ (SLIDE 2) Students answer.
- Then, I will ask ‘Can remember the opposites of these verbs?’ (SLIDE 3). I will continue with
the opposite verbs quiz and ask learners if they can remember any other pair, I will say:
TEACH… Students answer LEARN! And so on.
Aure, please select
PREVIEW to watch my
Class Presentation.
Thanks!
- Once I reach SLIDE 10, I will read the instruction and ask students to pick a slice of paper to
choose option A or option B.
- Since this is our first lesson I will read carefully the text asking questions to check
comprehension.
- Once, students finish choosing option. I will play the audio so that they can check if they are
more inclined for optimism or pessimism.
- Then, we’ll discuss our opinions and I will share my own opinion about not being neither
pessimist or optimist.
Transition comment: Ok, I think we’re running out of line. We deserve to finish this lesson with good
music, don’t you think? Do you like Maroon 5? What kind of music do you listen to? I think this song
is really optimistic and cheerful! I hope you like it!

Great start, Pau!
You´ve developed really interesting resources. I recommend that you
encourage students to systematize on their folders every now and then.
I hope both you and learners can use L2 as much as possible.
Best of luck!
