This document discusses issues related to green computing and power consumption as it relates to personal computer monitors. It analyzes the power consumed by three different types of monitors: CRT, LCD, and LED. The key findings are:
1) CRT monitors consume the most power at 150W on average, while LCD monitors consume around 30W and LED monitors consume around 20W.
2) When accounting for the entire personal computer system, a system using a CRT monitor consumes around 420W while an LCD system consumes 300W and an LED system consumes 290W.
3) Switching to LCD or LED monitors can reduce total computer power consumption by around 30-40% compared to using a CRT
