The survey is on the topic of “INTERNET & E-LEARNING” From which we
can get clear idea of internet industry. We can also find out, after doing a
survey that we can find out about awreness of internet & e-learnig which
preferred by the people and at which location. And about behavior towards of
the people.This project is benefit for getting knowledge & online sites through
internet & e-learnig survey. Or in future our juniors get the benefit for
research in future.

Overview of internet
Sometime in the mid 1960′s, during the Cold War, it became apparent that
there was a need for a bombproof communications system. A concept was
devised to link computers together throughout the country. With such a
system in place large sections of the country could be nuked and messages
could still get through.

In the beginning, only government “think tanks” and a few universities were
linked. Basically the Internet was an emergency military communications
system operated by the Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Project
Agency (ARPA). The whole operation was referred to as ARPANET.

In time, ARPANET computers were installed at every university in the United
States that had defense related funding. Gradually, the Internet had gone
from a military pipeline to a communications tool for scientists. As more
scholars came online, the administration of the system transferred from
ARPA to the National Science Foundation.

The Exchange Network Governance is committed to building a state-of-the-art

for exchanging environmental data in support of better environmental decision-

2.1 Inception/Founder(You Can Consider -Why,

When the late Senator Ted Kennedy heard in 1968 that the pioneering
Massachusetts company BBN had won the ARPA contract for an "interface
message processor (IMP)," he sent a congratulatory telegram to BBN for their
ecumenical spirit in winning the "interfaith message processor" contract.

Who was the first to use the Internet?
Charley Kline at UCLA sent the first packets on ARPANet as he tried to
connect to Stanford Research Institute on Oct 29, 1969. The system
crashed as he reached the G in LOGIN!

Did Al Gore invent the Internet?

According to a CNN transcript of an interview with Wolf Blitzer, Al Gore
said,"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative
in creating the Internet." Al Gore was not yet in Congress in 1969 when
ARPANET started or in 1974 when the term Internet first came into use.
Gore was elected to Congress in 1976. In fairness, Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf
acknowledge in a paper titled Al Gore and the Internetthat Gore has
probably done more than any other elected official to support the growth
and development of the Internet from the 1970's to the present

Ethernet, a protocol for many local networks, appeared in 1974, an
outgrowth of Harvard student Bob Metcalfe's dissertation on "Packet
Networks." The dissertation was initially rejected by the University for
not being analytical enough. It later won acceptance when he added
some more equations to it

4.3 The nature of the Internet

In time, last week may have been seen as the moment when many doors
began to be shut and locked on the Internet. The Internet, this wonderful
experiment in openness, must face the reality that it exists within a natural
world where everything that is open is open to attack.

We have hackers and we have viruses and they test and seek to infect.
The classic response is to see the people who hack and create viruses as
criminals, but the reality is much more complex. We won’t resolve the
problems that currently face the Internet through a heavier dose of law
enforcement. The law of man is not the law that hackers and viruses
respond to, but rather the law of nature.

4.5 Data Collection (Primary / Secondary):
Data is one of the most important and vital aspect of any research studies.
Researches conducted in different fields of study can be different in
methodology but every research is based on data which is analyzed and
interpreted to get information.
Data is the basic unit in statistical studies. Statistical information like
census, population variables, health statistics, and road accidents records
are all developed from data.
Data is important in computer science. Numbers, images and figures in
computer are all data.

Primary data: rimary Data:
Data that has been collected from first-hand-experience is known as
primary data. Primary data has not been published yet and is more reliable,
authentic and objective. Primary data has not been changed or altered by
human beings, therefore its validity is greater than secondary data.

Secondary Data:
Data collected from a source that has already been published in any form is
called as secondary data. The review of literature in nay research is based
on secondary data. MNostly from books, journals and periodicals.

The sampling frame of the survey is of Surat and general public of city.

The sample element of this survey of customer awreness of internet & e-

The sampling method used in survey is structured questionnaire

Survey tool is Structured Questionnaire. And the method is Convenient
Sampling of Non-probability Sampling.

(3.8) Response Rate
The response rate during the survey was 95%

(3.9) Pilot survey
The pilot survey was done of 5 questionnaires by the general public and
hardly in 2 question the respondent found difficulties. So, the changes were made
in that question.

Limitation of internet:
1) The quality of information resources might not always be reliable and
accurate.

Of course, with so many many websites and webmasters claiming to be an
expert in almost anything, we are ending up with stuffs like “learn how to
earn online with a 13 year old“. While I don’t blame such approaches, their
integrity and experience about the subject is definetly questionable.

2) Searching of information can be very tedious. (It IS definetly time
consuming)

Let’s a take an example, just google for the word “money“, you will see 10
pages full of resources(That’s only with google, now there are yahoo,

msn..etc). So finding what you are exactly looking for, might take you some
hours of browsing..

3) Internet is definetly not 100% secure.

We cannot neglect things like identity theft, a pc being compromised by a
cracker or your email account being compromised..etc
( Thought: may be you could think about the possible solutions for this
situation )
