The elements of the world constantly change 
• The external organizational environment 
includes all outside elements that effect the 
organization 
• General Environment: 
– Outer layer that directly affects organization 
• Task Environment: 
– Sectors that conduct transactions with the 
organization 
• Internal Environment: 
– Elements within the organization boundaries
