- 4. WHAT IS OPERATING SYSTEM? An operating system has the direct access to the computer hardware which depends on the user’s input on what to process and more like a person that talk on what to do. An operating system is the most important tool to have in any gadgets. The gadgets such as laptop and cellphone will run according to its operating system. It is a mediator between the application program’s command and the hardware.

Introduced in 1985, the GUI-based OS has been released in many versions since then. • Mac OS is the operating system for Apple's Macintosh line of PCs and workstations.

This means that anyone can use, copy, study and change the software in any way they chose so long as the source code is openly shared with others. • Android is powered by Linux System.
