Note for Presenter (Solution in Detail Chapter):
The objective of this slide is to highlight the sub-processes of the solution, the
adjoining processes, to show the related departments and the interfaces in the
whole picture.
The green gradient depicts the sub-processes related to the appropriate i-step
on the top.
The grey processes are adjoining processes for those not necessarily an SAP
solution is available.
Speaker Notes (10-20 sentences):
NOTE: The boxes for the SAP Management of Change solution are grey
because this solution is not yet available – planned release is 2Q2012.
 Safety is a shared responsibility between all workers -- environment, health
and safety experts, Operations, Maintenance, and the executive team.
 All employees are responsible for recording incidents, using appropriate
8
 risk controls, implementing corrective actions, recognizing operational
changes and triggering proper review of those changes.
 The EHS LoB needs expert systems to manage key business processes
such as incident management, risk assessment, EHS program
management, audit management, and change management.
 EHS experts need to provide information on risks and controls to the
workers in their own context for the specific work they undertake.
 Managing maintenance work requires specific safety-related business
processes to manage electricity and other hazards.
 Management communicates the organization’s objectives regarding risk
tolerance and provides the resources for risk reduction and operational
improvements.
 Management needs visibility into trends and KPIs across all of these sub-
processes in order to ensure that safety is being managed according to the
organization’s objectives and risk tolerance.
SAP provides the end-to-end process for Operational Risk Management. Key
integration points ensure that a common data model enhances communication
and action with respect to reducing risks. Closed-loop action tracking ensures
that agreed actions are really completed. Simple forms for incident recording
and change requests ensure that all workers can contribute to safer operations.
